Effects of this medicine
・This medicine lowers blood pressure and improves the prognosis of heart failure by antagonism to angiotensin II receptor.
・It is usually used to treat hypertension, renal parenchymal hypertension and chronic heart failure (mild to moderate).
Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)
・Hypertension (adults): In general, for adults, take 4 to 8 mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. The daily dosage may be increased up to 12 mg once a day as needed. If you have renal disorder, start with 2 mg at a time, once a day and the dosage may be increased up to 8 mg at a time, once a day, as needed.
・Hypertension (children): In general, for children aged 1 or over but under 6 years, take 0.05 to 0.3 mg of the active ingredient per kilogram of the body weight at a time, once a day. For children aged 6 years or over, take 2 to 8 mg at a time, once a day. The dosage may be increased up to 12 mg at a time, once a day, as needed. If you have renal disorder, start with low dose and the dosage may be increased up to 8 mg at a time, once a day, as needed.
・Renal parenchymal hypertension: In general, for adults, take 2 mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. The daily dosage may be increased up to 8 mg once a day as needed.
・Chronic heart failure (mild to moderate): In general, for adults, start with 4 mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. The dosage may be increased up to 8 mg once a day as needed. The treatment except for angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor is continued in principle.
・This preparation contains 4 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. In any cases, strictly follow the instructions.
・If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.

・If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines or foods.
・If you have: high blood level of potassium, low blood level of sodium, renal disorder, liver disorder or heart failure.
・If you are on hemodialysis, or on a regimen of low-salt diet.
・If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

・As dizziness and light headedness may appear due to excessive lowering of blood pressure, take extra care when working at heights or operating dangerous machinery such as driving a car.
