Effects of this medicine
・This medication ameliorates feelings of melancholy and depression by inhibiting serotonin reuptake in the brain.
・It is usually used to treat depression/depressive states, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and social anxiety disorder in adults, and to treat oppressive-compulsive disorder in children.
Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)
・For adults (depression/depressive states, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder): In general, take 1 tablet (50 mg as active ingredient) per day as an initial dose, which may be increased up to 3 tablets (150 mg) per day, which should be taken in two divided doses. The dose may be adjusted depending on age or symptoms.
・For children aged 8 years or more (obsessive-compulsive disorder): In general, start with 25 mg as active ingredient as a single daily dose at bedtime. The dose is increased after at least 7 days to 1 tablet (50 mg) per day, which should be taken in two divided doses, in the morning and at bedtime. The dose may be adjusted depending on the age and symptoms, but should not exceed 3 tablets (150 mg) per day. The daily dose should be increased in 25 mg increments every 7 days or more.
・This medicine contains 50 mg of the active ingredient per tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
・Take the medicine with adequate amount of water without chewing. If you chew the tablet, it tastes bitter and you may have numbness of tongue.
・If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take double doses to make up for the missed dose.

・If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicines or foods.
・If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Precautions while taking this medicine
・The medicine may cause sleepiness and disturbed consciousness such as depressed level of consciousness and loss of consciousness. Avoid driving a car or operating dangerous machinery.
・Alcohol may intensify the effects of the medicine. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking the medicine as much as possible.
・Refrain from taking any dietary supplements containing Hypericum perforatum (St. Johns wort) concomitantly with the medicine, as it may lead to enhanced serotonin action.

・Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
・Discard the remainder. Do not store them. If you do not know how to discard, consult your pharmacy or medical institution about how to discard them. Do not give this medicine to anyone else.
・[For children aged 8 years or more (obsessive-compulsive disorder)]: Families of the patient should thoroughly be explained by the doctor and understand that the patient may experience the emergence of suicidal ideation, agitation, aggressiveness, irritability, other unusual changes in behavior, and worsening of presenting symptoms. Families should monitor the patient for the emergence of such symptoms, and report to the prescriber or health professional if any change in patients condition is observed.
