Evocalcet

Effects of This Medicine +
・This medicine directly acts on calcium receptors on parathyroid cells to suppress synthesis and secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH), and it consequently decreases serum PTH and serum calcium level.
・It is usually used in the treatment of hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma, and hypercalcemia in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism who are unable to undergo parathyroidectomy or who experience recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism.
Dosing Schedule (How to Take) +
・In general, for adults, start by taking 2 mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. ・The dosage or dose frequency may be adjusted according to serum calcium level.
・However, the daily dose should not exceed 6mg, and the frequency of doses should not exceed 4 times a day. Depending on your condition, the dosage may start from 2 mg at a time, twice a day. As a rule, dose should be increased at intervals of at least two weeks. This preparation contains 4 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
・If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
Before Using This Medicine +
・If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines or foods.
・If you have: hypocalcaemia or liver dysfunction.
・If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
